TripYacht ("TripYacht", "we", "us", or "our") operates the website at tripyacht.com and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the Service to search for and book yacht charters from third-party charter operators.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password. If you sign in through a third-party provider, we receive the basic profile information that provider shares with us.

Booking information. When you request a quote or book a charter, we collect the destination, travel dates, group size, boat preferences, the identity of travelers in your party, and any sailing experience or license information required by the charter operator. We also store your communication history with our team and with operators.

Payment information. Payments are processed by PCI-compliant third-party payment processors. We do not store full credit card numbers on our own servers. We retain transaction identifiers, the last four digits of the card used, and billing address for fraud prevention and accounting.

Device and usage data. We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps. We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect this information.

Support and correspondence. When you contact us, we retain the content of your messages and our responses.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including search results, price quotes, and booking confirmations.
  • Process bookings and payments, issue refunds, and resolve disputes.
  • Share the information that charter operators need to fulfill your booking.
  • Communicate with you about your account, your bookings, and changes to the Service.
  • Send you marketing communications about destinations, offers, and TripYacht news (only where permitted by law; you can opt out at any time).
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Sharing With Charter Operators

TripYacht is a marketplace that connects travelers with independent yacht charter operators. When you book or request a quote, we share the information the operator needs to evaluate the booking and fulfill the charter — typically your name, contact details, travel party, dates, and any sailing qualifications. Each operator is an independent data controller for the information they receive and has their own privacy practices.

4. Other Third-Party Sharing

We also share information with:

  • Service providers that host our infrastructure, send transactional email, process payments, provide customer support tools, and perform analytics.
  • Advertising and analytics partners to measure campaign performance and reach audiences likely to be interested in sailing vacations.
  • Legal and regulatory authorities where required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may transfer as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, analytics, and marketing. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where available, through the cookie consent banner on our site. Disabling cookies may affect some features of the Service.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements. Booking and payment records are retained for at least seven years for tax and accounting purposes.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Receive a portable copy of your information.
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and related laws, including the right to know what personal information we collect and to opt out of certain sharing. EU and UK residents have rights under GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@tripyacht.com.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No online service is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password and notify us immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. International Data Transfers

TripYacht is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, processed in, and stored in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
